Japanese verbs are classified into the 3 categories listed below.
Japanese Verb Conjugation Type1: Dictionary form verb that end in “-u”. Except Type2,3. Type2: Dictionary form verb that end in either “-iru” or “eru” Type3: Iregular verbs. Only 2 words “くる” and “する”
—-— This list is about Japanese Verb Conjugation Type 1 group words. How do you know that verbs are type 1?
1. you will check the word’s Dictionary form. Japanese dictionary form verbs end in “u”. ex:かく(kaku)、みる(miru)、たべる(taberu) 2. If the verb’s last syllable is not “る”, it is a type 1 word, ex:かく、はなす、よむ etc.. But there are some exceptions, ex:はしる、かえる、はいる、きる、しる. Those are including type 1 words.
Type 1 verbs are classified by their position in the Japanese syllabary. Positioning is based on the final syllable ex: かく、ending in –く、 belongs on the k-line (か、き、く、け、こ) はなす、ending in –す、belong on the s-line (さ、し、す、せ、そ) たつ/たつ、ending in –つ、belongs on the t-line (た、ち、つ、て、と) よむ、ending in –む、belongs on the m-line (ま、み、む、め、も) はしる、ending in る、belongs on the r-line (ら、り、る、れ、ろ) —-
